Clear, elegant silhouettes, graphic patterns and structured high-quality fabrics in brilliant colours – these are the hallmarks of the young fashion label PAPER London. During the three years following its launch in 2011, creative director Kelly Townsend and managing director Philippa Thackeray have already gained many celebrity fans with their extravagant yet very wearable collections. From Britain’s own Pippa Middleton to international stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Solange Knowles, Suki Waterhouse, Emma Roberts, Kate Hudson and Lily Collins have all been spotted wearing PAPER London. This coming season Mercedes-Benz and Elle have invited PAPER London to present their new Autumn/Winter 2015 collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin as part of their continuous campaign to promote and nurture up and coming design talents. The show will take place at 11.30 a.m. on 21 January 2015 in the event marquee on Strasse des 17. Juni. With already a British Fashion Council Contemporary Award under their belt, PAPER, has been exceptionally well received by the international fashion press. After graduating from the renowned Saint Martin’s College of Art & Design, creative director Kelly Townsend headed up Temperley London’s knitwear collection and also worked as a freelance designer in Paris before partnering up with Philippa Thackeray.

Her collections for PAPER London feature sculptured cuts, graphic patterns and vivid colour contrasts. The Autumn/Winter 2015 collection was inspired by mid-20th century architecture and the postmodern interior design of Charles Eames and his contemporaries. Mercedes-Benz and Elle have declared a special interest in effectively promoting highly talented up-and-coming fashion designers. This is the eighth time that the two brands have issued a joint invitation to a promising label to attend the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin. “Innovative design and exceptional style consciousness have been features of our brand since ever. Hardly any other automobile brand has been as successful in consistently creating pioneering automobile icons with such an influence on style as Mercedes-Benz, whose designs were and still are the epitome of sensual clarity and modern luxury,” says Dr Jens Thiemer, head of marketing communication at Mercedes-Benz Passenger Vehicles.

In fashion too, innovative, bold formal language is a major factor if a brand and its products are to enjoy lasting success. This is why we promote young, talented fashion designers who are overturning tradition to create brand new ideas and offer them a superb platform for their designs in the context of our global dedication to fashion.”

Mercedes-Benz has been making a mark on the world’s most important fashion platforms for 18 years, and currently takes part in over 50 fashion events in more than 30 countries. With 45 international editions in more than 90 countries, Elle is one of the world’s largest and most well-known media brands and has been Germany’s best-selling high-end fashion magazine.
