Mercedes-AMG and MV Agusta: Two legendary names with a long motor racing tradition team up in DTM

Stuttgart – Two racing legends for the price of one: Mercedes-AMG will welcome Italian motorcycle brand MV Agusta into the DTM fold for the 2015 season. The logo of the well established motorcycle manufacturer will adorn a Mercedes‑AMG DTM car this year. Maximilian GötzDTM rookie Maximilian Götz (29, Mücke Motorsport) will compete in his debut season in the popular touring car series at the wheel of an MV Agusta-branded Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM. Similarly, riders lining up for the MV Agusta works team in the World Superbike and World Supersport championships will sport the Mercedes-AMG logo on their MV Agusta F3 and F4 RC machines for the first time this season.

The North Italian manufacturer attained international renown for its advanced technology and high performance, which helped to make it one of the most successful brands in the world of motorcycle racing. Overall, MV Agusta has so far achieved 75 world titles  Maximilian Götz(37 constructors’ titles and 38 drivers’ titles) and 270 grand prix victories. During its long motor racing history, legendary riders such as record world champion Giacomo Agostini, Carlo Ubbiali, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood and Phil Read all rode for the Italian marque. Mercedes-AMG and MV Agusta announced their joint cooperation last October. The partnership between the two high-end brands with a long tradition and history includes marketing and sales. MV Agusta Motor S.p.A., headquartered in Varese/Italy, was originally founded in 1945 by Domenico Agusta. The company currently employs a workforce of approximately 260 employees at its headquarters located on the shore of Lago di Varese in Northern Italy, of whom 90 work in the area of research and development.
